Our Services

Our facilitation style is highly interactive, whether we’re facilitating meetings, workshops, or other collective processes.

MEETING AND RETREAT FACILITATION

We strongly believe that well-facilitated meetings are crucial in building strong, effective organizations and successful projects. CWC facilitators are available to provide professional facilitation for retreats and meetings. We can work with you to plan and prepare for your meeting, help create effective agendas, and guide your group through meetings that are engaging, productive, and energizing.

WORKSHOPS AND TRAININGS

We offer a wide range of workshops and trainings, including political education sessions on topics such as racial, economic, and gender justice, anti-oppression fundamentals (and beyond), and more; as well as capacity building trainings such as facilitation and conflict resolution, decision-making, and human resources. We tailor all of our workshops and trainings to the needs of the particular organization we’re working with.

STRATEGIC PLANNING AND VISIONING

Creating a strategic plan is one of the most effective tools for moving your work forward and remaining in alignment with your organizational vision. CWC can support and facilitate collective visioning and strategic planning processes, working with you to clarify your group’s guiding vision and developing strong goals, objectives, workplans, and timelines.

CONFLICT MEDIATION AND COMMUNICATIONS

We are available to facilitate workplace conflict resolution processes, or to provide support and training for developing organizational conflict resolution policies, protocols, and a culture of healthy communication. This could range from a brief conflict resolution/communications training to more extensive consulting work around decision-making, organizational culture, communications, and related issues.

WEBINARS AND REMOTE FACILITATION

While we prefer to facilitate in person, sometimes web-based content is a better fit for organizations whose members work remotely, organizations outside the state of Oregon, or for whom facilitator travel costs are prohibitive. If your group meets primarily via video call, you can still hire CWC to facilitate meetings, planning processes, or conversations remotely.
We are also able to facilitate some workshop content remotely, either by using video projection to work with groups who are together in person, or by utilizing a webinar format so that participants can join from wherever they are. Webinars can also be used as a compliment to other forms of work such as consulting and in-person training.

About Our Rates

CWC offers our services on a wide sliding scale. Our sliding scale is an intentional effort to distribute resources equitably between organizations we work with, including universities, nonprofits, cooperatives, and grassroots community organizations; as well as to support and strengthen groups doing strategic movement-building work. Our break-even rate is $225/hr. Paying at the higher end of the scale—the Coalition Supporter rate—makes it possible for CWC to work with grassroots organizations at little to no cost to them.

Where Your Fees Are Going

Below is a breakdown of how we use the fee for a $4,000, day-long training. Any payment for reimbursed expenses (travel, meals, lodging, etc.) goes directly toward reimbursing our workers for those expenses.

Amount Percentage Comments
Salaries 78% Our average pay is $20/hr
Operating Expenses 12% This includes supplies, software, insurance, office equipment, payroll fees, website, accountant fees, legal advice, and other overhead
Worker Relief Fund 10% A percentage of all income is set aside to support struggling workers in cannabis and hemp

IS MY ORGANIZATION ELIGIBLE FOR YOUR SOLIDARITY RATES?

We prioritize our Solidarity Rate for organizations that are doing movement building work and/or work to build a solidarity economy, and are led by communities of color, immigrants, and/or working class and poor people.

We appreciate your understanding that we are rarely able to offer our solidarity rate for work that requires significant travel. Some organizations address this by partnering with allied local groups to co-host a training and share costs, or by connecting CWC with other local organizations that may also want to hire us. We are happy to hear from you and discuss options. If we can’t make it work, we’ll do our best to refer you to an organization or trainer who might be a good fit.

ARE YOUR RATES NEGOTIABLE?

These rates are guidelines. We understand that large organizational budgets don’t always mean lots of money available for training and consulting. If you are unable to pay within the range suggested for your organization but still feel that you are a good fit for CWC’s services, let us know and we will negotiate if possible. For contracts that include over 25 hours of consulting, a lower hourly rate may be negotiated.

WHAT DOES THE FULL COST RATE COVER?

The Full Cost Rate is the actual cost of our work (our break-even rate is $225/hr). This is the range that covers the costs we incur as a business while working with you. Because we are a worker-owned 501c4 and not a 501c3, we do not receive grants to subsidize our client work. We rely on our fee-for-service income to pay our salaries and keep our business operating. For a full breakdown of where this income goes, see our transparent expenses below.

Day rates include the cost of a full day of facilitation or training, plus up to 5 hours of preparation or follow-up work. If more substantial preparation or follow-up is required, we bill for additional hours at an agreed-upon hourly rate.
